The CHIRP Maritime programme is a not-for-profit that improves safety at sea by collecting incident reports from seafarers worldwide, identifying the underlying behavioural causes and then sharing that knowledge in our online newsletters to avert future recurrences.

For over 21 years, CHIRP's independent, impartial and confidential incident reporting programme has given seafarers a voice; provided guidance to vessel operators and managers; and provided to Flag State regulators, P&I Clubs and Classification Societies the evidence that catalyses safety change.

In 2023-24, CHIRP intervened to directly improve safety for over 3,000 seafarers, and imparted safety knowledge to over 165,000 others.
