The safety of our guests is of upmost importance to us. In light of this, and in line with latest travel guidance from the Government, all Trinity House lighthouse holiday cottages are now temporarily closed. Our agents, Rural Retreats, are contacting all customers travelling within the next 7 days, to transfer their holiday dates and are only accepting new bookings that have an arrival date after 3rd July 2020.

We appreciate that these are difficult times and that many of our guests will be feeling the financial impact of the current situation. If you should decide that you do not wish to rebook, you will need to check your travel insurance as to whether you would be covered for cancelling your holiday. Rural Retreats will provide whatever information you need in this regard to support a claim.

We encourage everyone to follow the Government’s guidelines to keep each other safe and well. We hope that in the coming months we will welcome you to holiday with us once again.

Whitby Lighthouse holiday cottages

Whitby Lighthouse on the East Coast close to the North Yorkshire Moors has two holiday cottages: Galatea and Vanguard

The High Cliffs of the North Yorkshire coast hide a number of small ports, the most significant of which is Whitby. Captain Cook was apprenticed to a Whitby ship-owner and made the first of his epochal voyages of discovery (1768-1771) in a covered Whitby built 'cat' - a small ship rigged collier renamed Endeavour. Whitby has a beautiful sandy beach. Nine miles away from Whitby is the village of Goathland, the setting for the drama Heartbeat in which you can see the stunning scenery which abounds in the area.
