Primary Schools Competition

Trinity House is running a competition for Primary Schools to design a lighthouse holiday brochure or poster which will encourage families to visit its lighthouses and nearby attractions.

The 'brochure' can either be printed on to paper or be designed as a website; the choice is yours.

The aim of the competition is to encourage pupils to participate in group discussions, thinking about what would appeal to people with different interests and of other age groups, as well as promote creative writing, research skills and team work.

Prizes will be awarded to those pupils or groups of pupils who in the judges opinion have produced the most appealing online or print brochure / poster, and best covers a variety of attractions for a wide audience. The decision of the judges is final.

Entries must be submitted prior to the schools Easter break and winners will be notified in the first week of the Summer term.

Entries must be submitted with a completed entry form and should be sent to: Public Relations Manager, Trinity House, Tower Hill, London, EC3N 4DH.

A brief explanation about why a particular coastal area was chosen and how the children went about designing the brochure is not essential but can be provided, along with any other information you feel the judges might find relevant.

Prizes will include visits to a Trinity House lighthouse that is open to the public (where the distance and age group of the pupils is appropriate), Book Tokens and Trinity House Key Stage 2 education packs.
