Volunteers
Since formally opening lighthouse visitor centres to the public in 2000, the Trinity House Visitor Centres have proved very popular with holidaymakers, schools, special interest groups and local residents. They give an insight in to what it would be like to work as a Lighthouse Keeper, the building's history and purpose, and from the Lantern Room it provides the visitor with a new perspective on the surrounding coastline. The success of the Visitor Centres is due to the dedication and work of the people who conduct the tours and who are on hand to answer questions.
Trinity House is keen to extend its network of volunteers, particularly at Lizard, where the visitor centre is being revamped, and Hurst Point, a display opened at Hurst Castle last year.
