Established in 1499, North Foreland Lighthouse marks the Southerly entrance to the River Thames and warns mariners of the treacherous Margate Roads. North Foreland was the last manned lighthouse in the United Kingdom when it was converted to automatic operation in November 1998.LocationNorth Foreland is located 1.2 miles north of Broadstairs on the B2052 coastal road, close to Joss Bay.Map: click here for streetmap ParkingParking is available in public roads close to the Lighthouse.
